Laser Aided Profiler

The Laser Aided Profiler is a digital documentation system developed specifically for archaeological ceramics. It transforms the time-consuming task of pottery drawing into a fast, repeatable workflow: the operator captures precise laser profiles, photographs, measurements, and metadata, then produces scaled, publication-ready drawings while preserving the underlying data for later review, export, and analysis.

Designed for both laboratory and field use, the LAP combines optical measurement hardware with software built around real ceramic-processing workflows. It is especially valuable for large find assemblages, where consistent documentation, searchable databases, and analysis-ready profile data can save time and open new possibilities for comparison, shape matching, and morphometric research.
